The postage stamp depicts a mural from the Archbishop’s Palace in Kroměříž, one of the most significant monuments inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This historic residence of the Archbishops of Olomouc is renowned for its magnificent interiors and extensive gardens, which are among the finest examples of historic landscape architecture in Central Europe. The fresco shown here was created by the Italian painter Carpoforo Tencalla, a leading figure in Baroque art. His works are distinguished by their rich ornamentation, attention to detail, and impressive use of space, which lend the palace halls an extraordinary atmosphere.
