The painting shown here comes from the Chapel of St. Catherine, a private space belonging to Emperor Charles IV, and is an exceptional example of 14th-century art. The work, attributed to the Master of the Karlštejn Apocalypse, was created for the monarch’s personal contemplation and remains one of Karlštejn’s most valuable artistic treasures to this day.
