What makes this building particularly interesting is the masterful way in which it blends into its historic surroundings. The original bold design had to be adapted to harmonise better with the historic buildings. Gočár therefore added sophisticated Cubist details to the entrance and balustrades, and, most notably, incorporated the original Baroque statuette from the house that previously stood on this site into the façade. This created a fascinating fusion of two entirely different artistic eras. The building is now listed as a national cultural monument and houses an exhibition of the National Gallery.
